Located in Oceola Township, the site for this cemetery is on the east side of the southeast quarter of Section 15. One of the oldest families in the Howell area Elijah Riddle founded the cemetery in about 1840. He was also the first person to be interred there in 1842.
At this time there were other burials on family farms in Oceola Township, so they were all removed and re-interred at this site.

The cemetery is still in use and grows each year.
The transcription of the rural cemeteries of Livingston County done by the DAR included this cemetery and the three volumes were made into one index which I used along with other data as the beginnings of the new tabular format showing those interred and the cemetery names which are linked to these individual cemetery pages.
